Quickstart

This guide gets a new workspace from zero to the first snapshot.

1. Create a workspace

After sign-up, create a workspace from the onboarding flow. You will provide:
  • workspace name
  • optional URL slug
  • usage type:
    • self for monitoring your own organization
    • msp for monitoring multiple client tenants

2. Add your first Microsoft tenant

Go to: Settings -> Integrations -> Microsoft Then choose Add tenant and provide:
  • tenant ID
  • client ID
  • client secret
  • optional label
Driftmark validates the credentials immediately and stores the connection.

3. Create a snapshot template

Still in the Microsoft integrations area, create a template that enables the controls you want to monitor. Templates define the scope of each snapshot. They also determine the Microsoft Graph application permissions your app registration must have.

4. Assign the template to the tenant

Open the tenant configuration page and select the template in the Template section. Without a selected template, snapshot runs will be blocked.

5. Run the first snapshot

From either:
  • the Microsoft integrations page
  • the tenant detail page
run a snapshot manually. Your first successful snapshot establishes the first historical record for that tenant. After that, later snapshots can be compared for drift.

6. Review results

Open the snapshot to review:
  • overview
  • inventory
  • drift status
  • JSON export

7. Configure ongoing automation

Once the first snapshot is working, configure:
  • a snapshot schedule per tenant
  • optional report schedules, if your plan supports them
This lets Driftmark continue collecting evidence and generating reports on an ongoing basis.
