Reviewing drift

Drift review in Driftmark is designed around two common comparison modes.

Drift vs previous

Use this when you want to see what changed since the last successful snapshot for the same tenant. This is best for:
  • operational monitoring
  • frequent change review
  • daily or hourly validation workflows

Drift vs baseline

Use this when you want to compare the latest state to an approved baseline. This is best for:
  • formal audit review
  • tracking unauthorized changes
  • maintaining a known-good reference state

Drift metrics

Drift summaries surface:
  • added
  • removed
  • changed
These counts are exposed:
  • on snapshot pages
  • on the dashboard
  • in drift-specific views
  1. Check whether the tenant shows drift in the dashboard.
  2. Open the latest snapshot for that tenant.
  3. Review drift vs previous for recent operational changes.
  4. Review drift vs baseline for policy compliance.
  5. Add a snapshot comment with the outcome.
  6. If the new state is approved, update the baseline.

When to approve a new baseline

Approve a new baseline only after:
  • expected changes are validated
  • the tenant is in the desired configuration state
  • the review trail is documented
Baselines should not be moved forward automatically without review if you are using Driftmark for audit or compliance evidence.
